Day of the Dead Sugar Skull

Hi!

Wow it's cold!

I can not believe that a few days ago it was super hot and today it's soooo cold!

That's what happens when you live in Chicago,  even though this is my hometown; I'm still surprised by Chi-town's weather and it's craziness. hehehehe!

Even though I will miss the summer, this weather reminds me of the great holidays that are coming... especially my favorites halloween and the Day of the Dead.

Every year I make and sell sugar skulls in my etsy shop, and I also give a few away.

A few days a go, I gave my goddaughter  a sugar skull that I manufactured and decorated just for her.
She liked it so much she sent me a picture of herself holding the sugar skull.  It reminded me of my childhood so here goes an anecdote....

When I was about 7 years old, a beautiful sugar skull was given to me,  it had red and blue flowers, with various sugar decorations in bright colors. (it looked so delicious!)

As I inspected the sugar skull, my mouth watered and with out hesitation I took a bite... Needless to say I was not successful at trying to get the sweetness I had been trying to much on.
No one had mentioned, that sugar skulls were made for the day of the dead altar decorations or that they are hard as rocks and that you are not suppose to eat them!

Long story short, my teeth just glided down the side of the round shape of the skull.... leaving me
with a few sprinkles of colored sugar on my lips. That is when I knew I had made a mistake.....
I looked up a bit nervous, waiting for someone to laugh at me, but thank God no one noticed and  I was spared ... lol!

Do yo have any stories of your own, regarding non-edibles that are made with edible ingredients?
